Other Information - Student Learning and Creativity

Too many times teachers will shy away from technology. I want to reverse that tendency and shift teacher's thinking to embrace technology. Why wouldn't we use cell phones in class? Everyone has them and I would bet you that students would enjoy knowing how to fully utilize them. Go ahead and post your thoughts on this concept. I would like to hear from different people and their varying views.

  1. I don't know whether I want students using cell phones in my classroom. One of the reasons is that if students are busy texting friends or surfing the web, are they really working on learning the concepts that we are learning in class. It would be hard to monitor.

I know that we have walk-throughs and one of the items we are evaluated on is students on-task. I think that by allowing cell phones, by numbers for this would be very low! Also, what about the student that does not have a cell phone, or only has limited features.
